Wow! Where did the past year go?
We’re definitely not alone in feeling like the year has slipped by, with Christmas already sneaking up around the corner. Whether you like it or not, the fact that it’s November already means that the holidays will be here in the blink of an eye.
While it may seem a little too early to start talking about Christmas gifts, it’s actually a pretty smart idea to get going with your gift shopping. In addition to making the whole process a lot easier, starting early also makes a lot of sense.
When it comes to jewellery-based gifts (our favourite kind, of course) there are several reasons why the phrase, “the sooner, the better” applies. Read on, to see our top four reasons for getting ahead of the curve.
4 Reasons Why You Should Buy Jewellery Gifts for Christmas Early
More Time to Choose a Meaningful Gift
The holidays always seem to sneak up so quickly. Too often, that means Christmas rolls around before you’ve even gotten gifts sorted.
Shopping in a rush isn’t a great idea, as it often leads to purchases that aren’t quite thought out. When you’re in a rush, you have less time to consider the recipient of the gift and may fall into the classic trap of buying something that suits your taste more than theirs.
By allowing yourself plenty of time, however, you can have ample time to really consider what you’re purchasing: Does it match the recipient’s style? Do they already have something like this? Is this the right size/ colour?
Peace of Mind
Life is full of everyday stressors, and gift-giving shouldn’t be one of them. If you’ve ever felt the niggling sense of knowing you had something on your to-do list, you know how much the little things can add up.
Save yourself the worry and anxiety in the lead up to Christmas by getting your gift shopping out of the way early. That way, you can approach the holidays with a sense of calm and love — exactly how it should be!
Silly Season Gets Busy Fast
They don't call it the silly season for nothing! Back-to-back parties, jam-packed weekends, and work events sure make for plenty of fun. However, they also tend to fill your calendar to the brink.
Even though you may feel like you have more than enough time to get your Christmas shopping sorted right now, once the parties start, it’ll be another story. If you suspect that you’re going to have a few busy weekends coming up, it’s a good idea to start shopping now. Otherwise, Christmas will arrive before you know it.
Deadlines Are Coming
If you already have an idea of what you want to gift this Christmas, make sure you get on it soon before ordering deadlines come up.
Because our jewellery is all handmade, it takes time for an order to be ready — especially if you have a custom piece in mind. Typically our custom pieces take three to four weeks to make, and while we do offer a priority service that allows you to fast track your order, it’s still essential to make sure you meet the following deadlines, to ensure your gift comes in time for Christmas.
- Engagement Ring Appointments - November 6th: If you’re planning to pop the question this Christmas, the deadline for appointments is fast approaching. Get in before the 5th of November to make sure that your dream jewellery piece can become a reality in time for Christmas.
- Custom Pieces - November 6th: Planning to gift your loved one a one-of-a-kind custom jewellery piece? Don’t miss our November 5th deadline! Because the custom design process is more intensive than our standard designs, we ask that all custom pieces be ordered before this deadline to ensure enough time to turn around your piece in time for the holidays. Learn more about our custom offerings, and make an appointment here to discuss further details.
- Regular Online Pieces - November 16th: If you’ve already got your eye on one of our Kate & Kole designs, you can easily order online to arrive in time for Christmas. If you don’t feel like you need the priority service, just make sure to place your order before November 16th, to ensure it arrives in time for Christmas.
- Priority Service Pieces - December 10th: If you have a general idea of what you want, but need more time to decide, choosing our priority service pushes back the order deadline until December 10th. This is also a great option for anyone who orders earlier but wants to ensure that they have everything sorted well in advance.
If we’ve convinced you that it’s a good idea to begin your Christmas shopping soon, keep these deadlines in mind to make sure your gifts arrive on time. If you still can’t decide on a gift or find yourself in a time crunch (it happens), our Newcastle studio will be open until midday December 24th with a selection of gifts in the studio for last-minute shopping.
