The Brief: Simple and minimal but striking
We just loved receiving this story from Wade about his partner Sophie and the experience he had designing with us. Wade had a few specific ideas about the ring he wanted which was so fun to work with. Our favourite detail was a vintage jewellery box we helped source to store the ring in for the proposal.
“From the moment my partner and I formed a relationship I knew it was going to be forever.
As the years went on, the hints from my fiancé surfaced that she would like to get married. Not once would I give her the impression I was for marriage, in fact I would turn her off by being anti marriage, but it was always a consideration. I didn’t let it show but I was always taking mental notes of her passing comments on rings from previous engagements and paying particularly close attention to her jewellery interests.
I eventually knew her well enough to know what she liked but had no idea how I would get it. Kate & Kole was a brand I would hear [from Sophie] how beautiful their rings were, so once I had enough money saved it was time to source my ring. I wanted it to be something I created without referring to a friend for help (to me it would feel not as special relying on someone else to help choose the ring for my fiancé ) but I did need help, and I knew I didn’t want to use a cliché corner shop jeweller. So, I Googled Kate & Kole and sent an enquiry through their website, which then I was greeted with a warmly phone call from Sara shortly after. She was very kind and extremely helpful. Once we got to know each other I learned they were local to my hometown [Newcastle].
I was able to make an appointment for a home visit so I could pass on my ideas and we could collaborate and create something together. I had no ring knowledge what so ever, so Sara new all the right questions to ask. I had two primary inputs which was a white gold band and simplicity, Kate & Kole took care of the rest. We spoke in emails to avoid suspicion from my partner, back and forth with ideas and design options. It came to the point she had designed the ring I knew I had to propose with, which I went ahead and approved.
Everything was easy, Sara became a friend who was a professional in the field and I couldn’t have been happier with my experience. Especially once I saw my ring in person, it was such a touching moment.
