When Maddy was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, it was a turning point. Her body had reached a point of exhaustion after years of pushing through, and she knew something needed to change.
“When I was diagnosed, I felt like my body had finally said, enough. It was a wake-up call. I’d been pushing through constantly, and my body simply couldn’t keep up anymore.”
Recovery became her new focus, alongside running the business and raising a busy two-and-a-half-year-old. It required both discipline and gentleness, and a willingness to completely reframe how she defined productivity.
“When you’re recovering from something invisible, it’s grounding to have proof of progress. Watching my readiness and resilience scores slowly improve gave me something tangible to celebrate, even when I still felt tired. It helped me build a kind of self-compassion I’d never had before.”
