  1. "The Awa ring was first imagined for a collection we photographed in Arrowtown, Aotearoa (New Zealand), around my 30th birthday. It belonged to Āhua — a small, meaningful series of pieces with names drawn from language and landscapes that felt deeply connected to us.

    Much of the collection spoke to my homeland, New Zealand. In Te Reo Māori, āhua translates loosely to “appearance” or “as it should be”— something in its right form, grounded and whole."

  1. the meaning of awa

    Among these designs was a beautiful pendant named Toka (rock), but it was Awa — a wave in gold, that became the heart of the range.

    Its curves echoed rivers winding through Aotearoa, fluid yet enduring. For me, it was more than a design: it was comfortable, beautiful and entirely free from trends. Its enduring presence in our collection is a testament to its timelessness.

    Naming one of my first designs Awa felt significant and it felt right. It was not a word borrowed, but honoured, its meaning inseparable from the spirit of the piece. Today, Awa is more than a ring; it is a suite — a family of designs united by the same flowing line, each one grounded in the landscape, shaped by connection and destined to remain timeless.

    Like the rivers it’s named for, Awa has found its own path —

    Winding, Evolving, Enduring.

    Over the past eight years, we’ve crafted Awa as an engagement ring, a wedding band and an everyday piece. In its bold weight, it is a substantial, sculptural sweep of gold; in its fine weight, delicate and understated. It now flows into earrings and bangles, with the option to accent it with diamonds, always carrying the same strength.
